Privacy policy

Last updated November 3, 2026.

This policy explains how John McLaughlin LLC ("Coffered", "we") handles personal information on this website and in the Coffered app. Coffered is used by design studios ("studios") and the clients they invite ("clients").

What we collect

  • Account details: your name and email address when you sign in or are invited, and the studio or projects your account belongs to.
  • Project content: the 3D models, plan sets, options, photos, prices, comments, messages, selections and approvals that studios and clients add to a project.
  • Requests you send us: what you type into the early access or contact form.
  • Technical data: the IP address, browser and request details our hosting provider records when a page loads, used to run and secure the service.

How we use it

  • To provide the service: show each project to the people invited to it, record selections and approvals, and send the notices you choose to receive.
  • To keep it secure: authenticate accounts, scan uploads for malware and prevent misuse.
  • To answer your requests and tell you about your account.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who can see project content

A project is visible only to its studio's members and the clients invited to it. Trade prices, markup and suppliers are visible only to the studio. Clients cannot see other clients' projects.

Service providers

We use these providers to run Coffered. Each processes data only to provide its service to us:

  • Neon: database, file storage and sign-in, in the AWS US East (N. Virginia) region.
  • Cloudflare: hosting and content delivery for this website and the app.
  • Resend: sending email, such as invitations and notices.

We will update this policy before adding a provider that processes personal information.

Cookies and local storage

This website stores your light or dark theme choice in your browser. The app uses a cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies.

How long we keep it

Project content is kept for the life of the project plus seven years, so studios can refer back to what was approved. If a studio cancels, its data is deleted 90 days after cancellation, after an offer to export it.

Your choices

You can ask for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct it or ask us to delete it. If you are a client, some project records belong to the studio that invited you; we will work with that studio on your request. Send requests through the contact page.

Children

Coffered is a business service and is not directed to children under 13.
